A Christmas present they won’t return in January
Less guesswork, more sea air, good food and a weekend off.
Hello,
It’s that time of year when gift guides start shouting at you. Apparently, everyone needs a novelty mug, a scented candle and a voucher for something they may or may not want.
The honest problem with most presents is that they’re guesses. A candle is a guess about someone’s preferred scent. A voucher is a guess with extra steps, and often a small expiry-date-shaped threat attached.
The things people tend to remember are the things they did: a long walk by the water, a meal shared around a table, a yoga class that left them feeling looser, and a weekend when nobody needed them to find the scissors.
So this Christmas, you could give someone a place on a retreat. Or, if you’re reading this with a hopeful face, send this newsletter to the person currently asking what you’d like.
For The Manor, a £250 deposit secures a place, and the recipient can choose from the available dates. You can book for someone else or send them the link and let them choose for themselves. No guessing sizes, colours or candle scents. Just the gift of proper time away, and nobody returns that in January.

The Manor Reset: a forest weekend with room to breathe
This three-day yoga retreat in the UK takes place at a private manor in the New Forest. There are around ten yoga, meditation and creative sessions across the weekend, with plenty of time between them to rest, wander or quietly claim a comfortable chair.

There’s an outdoor pool used as a cold plunge when the sea is too rough to swim, plus a hot tub, eight-person sauna, tennis court and billiard room. The extensive grounds include a lake and stream, and the sea is five minutes away. You’ll also be well fed: I cook nourishing vegetarian and vegan meals, drawing on my Leiths chef training. Nobody is expected to stretch before breakfast unless they actually want to.

Available dates:
- 4–6 December 2026
- 8–10 December 2026
- 15–17 January 2027
- 19–21 January 2027
- 26–28 February 2027
- 2–4 March 2027
Prices: Shared twin from £650 per person; a friends package is £1,200 for two sharing (saving £100); private rooms from £950. A £250 deposit secures a place.
The food is part of the pleasure, too: generous, thoughtful meals to come back to after a day of moving, resting and getting some fresh air. No tiny portion arranged like a modern art installation.

Winter Tide: a little more coast
If sea air is their preferred reset button, Winter Tide is a coastal retreat in Keyhaven, on the Hampshire coast. The dates are 15–17 January 2027.
Expect big skies, optional sea dips, kayaking, Vinyasa and Yin yoga, meditations, sound baths, fires and a hot tub under the stars. Kayaking depends on conditions; sea dips are optional. There is no prize for being the coldest person on the beach.

Prices: Shared double rooms from £500 per person; private rooms from £950.
Both retreats make a lovely gift for someone who has been running on empty, or for someone who simply likes a good weekend and doesn’t need a dramatic reason to take one.
To give a retreat place, or ask which dates might suit, email me at info@novamilesko.com. Booking directly is preferred: it avoids third-party charges and keeps the refund process simpler if plans need to change.
A weekend away may not fit under the tree. It does, however, come with fresh air, proper food and no assembly instructions.
Warmly,
Nova
